woe

Synopsis :  Nell Gallagher of the  psychic FBI Special Unit Division returns to her hometown of Silence. There are men being murdered in town and these men all share two common secrets: they have skeletons in the closet and they are all linked to Nell.

The story is riddled with “romantic suspense” plot devices, making this book far from a cozy mystery read. Characters from previous works lend a sense of continuity to the story line, plot is complex and has so many unexpected twists and turns. It has psychics, serial murders, romance – what more could you want?

Book : All Through the Night

Synopsis : This one should have been appropriately posted during the festive season of Christmas but I couldn't resist. The queen of Suspense writes this thriller with her two recurring characters, Alvirah and Willy. A woman abandons her newborn at a Manhattan church. Simultaneously, a thief is absconding with a treasured artifact, a chalice adorned with a star-shaped diamond. To elude police, he grabs the stroller and disappears. Seven years later, the mother returns to the scene and finds Alvirah and Willy helping neighborhood kids prepare for a Christmas pageant at an after-school shelter. Soon the savvy sleuths set out to solve the puzzle of the missing child and chalice -- and to unmask scam artists threatening to shut down the shelter.

This book is very unlike the usual Higgins thrillers, it is much more lighthearted nut nonetheless a very nice seasonal suspense novel.Mary Higgins rarely disappoints but this one is definitely in her top tens, it is light and fluffy and will leave you with a feel good factor.Grab this free book before anyone else claims it....Happy reading

The Face of Fear is a  very fast read and has well written chapters,it is a perfect example of a thriller done right. It leaves you wishing that the story were longer and more detailed, I think it was also made into some kind of a movie or tv serial. If someone finds out please let me know, i would love to give it a watch. Free Novel...Harmful Intent by Robin Cook

Book : Harmful Intent

Author : Robin Cook

Published : 1990

Synopsis : A medical thriller set in the city of Boston during the late 80’s. It is a story of an anesthesiologist, an average doctor working extra hours and diligently.

In a routine Cesarean, a healthy patient suffers inexplicable seizures and eventually dies after being administered a local anaesthetic, her death triggers an 11 million dollar lawsuit against Dr. Jeffery Rhodes. Caught between law suits and a divorce he felt a final blow when charged with second degree murder. Determined to prove his innocence and clear his name finds himself uncovering a conspiracy behind a series of killings under the facade of malpractice cases.

Another great novel from Robin Cook who is a American physician writing novels based on medicine. He has a knack for combining the medical and thriller genre, his storytelling is so influential, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between reality and fiction.

Corruption of Blood...Political Thriller

Book : The Corruption of Blood

Author : Robert K. Tanenbaum

Published :

Synopsis : A congressional committee reopens the investigation into the assassination of President Kennedy, and Butch is tapped to lead it. Accompanied by his wife, tough-as-nails prosecutor Marlene Ciampi, into the Washington world of ambiguous allegiances and byzantine conspiracies, he soon stumbles onto ``Evidence of an interest on the part of the CIA to suppress a thorough investigation,'' a mysterious Guatemalan connection that suggests even darker doings in Castro's Cuba than were suspected all along, and the secret history of a JFK colleague and friend whose own nefarious agenda may have involved him in the crime.

Corruption of Blood is a gripping story that draws from author own experience as Deputy Chief Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations. The writing is excellent and there are enough plot twists to keep you turning the pages.

Published : 2006

Synopsis : Six old friends meet over lunch and one of them comes up with the idea of bringing old snap shots, lot of dark secrets are discovered and confessions made. The evil running behind the “smooth” lives of all these friends comes in front.

It is a bold and substantial book, the Author tries to strips off the covers of the high-class in Indian society. There is a lot of sex in the book but the fictitious aspect of the novel is not well formed. All in all, the book is good enough.

Synopsis : In this incisive, detailed survey of five patients, famous thriller author and doctor Michael Crichton explores the dramatic workings of Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston's oldest and most prestigious.

This readable account covers not only the history of the hospital's place in society, but also the actual minute-to-minute functions of Mass General, where health professionals wage their daily battle against disease and death. Crichton's insightful look at the changes in medicine and surgery caused by technological strides of recent years makes for amazing reading.

Book : Black Notice

Author : Patricia Cornwell

The book kept my attention throughout but the ending was somewhat abrupt. This is probably one of the weakest of Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series books but it's still a decent story.

Today's Giveaway : The Rozabal Line

Book : The Rozabal Line

Author : Ashwin Sanghi

Published : 2007

Synopsis : Sanghvi resurrects a theory which states that Jesus travelled to India and spent his last days in Kashmir. In fact, Rozabal is believed to the resting place for Jesus and contains the grave where Jesus was buried. Vincent Clair , a priest who keeps getting visions of his past life sets out to India to find out the story of his past, along with his sister Martha. What happens next is a mixture of sub plots that involves a conspiracy theory hatched by  a terrorist organisation and mysterious organisations like Illuminati.

Sanghi's novel here is somewhat a Indianised version of The Da Vinci Code. You will find a lot of similarities between the two novels but it is still a very interesting read. The only problem with this novel is that it has too many sub-plots and keeps jumping from one era to another making it difficult for the reader to follow in between. Yet this fiction is definitely worth a read. A very good effort by an Indian Author.

Synopsis : Twelve-year-old Jack Sawyer embarks on an epic quest--a walk from the seacoast of New Hampshire to the California coast--to find the talisman that will save his dying mother's life. Jack's journey takes him into the Territories, a parallel medieval universe, where most people from his own universe have analogs called "twinners." King joined another master of the horror genre, Peter Straub, to create - a fantasy novel. Together they have created strong Characters and is well written but it is long and sags in the mid-section. It's not up there with most of King's or Straub's other works but enjoyable

The Lasko Tangent by Richard North Patterson

Book : The Lasko Tangent

Author: Richard North Patterson

Published :

Plot : William Lasko is a self-made millionaire who's got the ear of the president and a talent for using it to get what he wants. Now the Economic Crime Commission wants Lasko brought down - and the U.S. Attorney Paget is tapped to gather evidence to nail Lasko down.

Pattersons follow up novel on the character of Christopher Paget (Degree of guilt and Eyes of a Child ) are far superior novels than this one but it's a good read nonetheless. If you are going to read Degree of Guilt, I highly recommend that you read this one first. It is good read for the summer beach or an airline seat. Author Richard North Patterson writes well.

Book: Sail

Author : James Patterson & Howard Roughan

Published : 2008

Plot : Anne organizes a sailing vacation for her three children because she feels that the family is falling apart. Disaster happens and Anne's family are lost at sea, injured and dysfunctional. The accident is masterminded by someone close to them, the antagonist is revealed early on and the motive is never in doubt. All the tension and suspense in the book is found in Anne Dunne's fight for survival and the antagonist's race to cover his tracks.

James Patterson have produced another winning beach read guaranteed to keep the pages turning. It's fast paced and fun but lacks real substance or charm. Some of the characters growth is undefined but it will not stop you from turning the pages.
